How WhatsApp charges work
Meta charges for each template message delivered, at a rate set by message category and the recipient's country. Marketing messages cost the most. Utility messages, such as order updates and reminders, cost much less in most countries. Authentication messages carry one-time codes.
The second bill people forget
Many WhatsApp tools add their own margin to every message, on top of Meta's price. On a busy month that hidden margin can cost more than the software itself. Enter your current provider's markup above to see what it adds up to over a year.
Three ways to spend less
- Send marketing messages to smaller, better segments instead of everyone.
- Use utility templates for genuine transactional updates, which are cheaper in most countries.
- Choose a provider with 0% markup, so you only ever pay Meta's rate.
Questions people ask.
How is WhatsApp Business API priced?
Meta charges per delivered template message. The price depends on the category (marketing, utility or authentication) and the recipient's country.
Which country's rate applies?
The country of the recipient's phone number, not where your business is registered.
Are these rates exact?
They come from Meta's USD rate card effective 1 July 2026, checked on 25 October 2026. Meta updates rates regularly, so confirm on Meta's pricing page before you budget. You can edit every rate in the calculator.
What about replies when the customer messages first?
Those are service conversations, and Meta sets separate rules and free allowances for them. This calculator covers template messages, which are where most of the cost is.
Does SelfCRM add a markup?
No. SelfCRM charges a flat plan price and passes Meta's rates through with 0% markup.
How do I lower my WhatsApp bill?
Send marketing messages to smaller, better segments, use utility templates only where they genuinely fit, and avoid providers that add a per-message markup.
Pay Meta's price. Nothing on top.
SelfCRM is a flat plan with 0% markup on every WhatsApp message.
